Matthew Williamson’s Free People collection marks the British designer’s first return to fashion in seven years, and it arrives like a postcard from a summer vacation. The 15-piece capsule is exclusive to Free People, and it carries everything Williamson built his name on.
There is color, print, and a modern bohemian glamour that never tips into costume. He drew it from European summer travel and the sun-soaked rhythm of Mallorca, where he now lives. The result reads less like a comeback and more like a homecoming, with Free People’s free-roaming spirit wired into Williamson’s eye for the slightly decadent.

Shot in Deià by Kate Bellm, the campaign trades polish for heat. Stone walls, palm fronds, skies going pink at the edges. These are clothes built for the drift between a long beach afternoon and a dinner that runs late.

The standout is the Palma Printed Maxi Dress, pulled from Williamson’s Spring 2011 archive and rewoven with tropical palms. Set it against the deep red Retro Sunbeam towelling set, and you see the range: one piece floats, the other lounges.

There’s a full-length Deià Embroidered Coat for the ambitious, and the Sol Embellished Mini, dense with the kind of handwork you feel before you notice. Swim and accessories carry the vacation through, from a crochet bikini and a loud floral one-piece to printed scarves and a beach tote sized for overpacking.
The palette glows in burnt red, marigold, leafy green, cream, coral, and sunset orange. Prints climb across dresses, pants, and cover-ups, while crochet, fringe, embroidery, and draping do the subtle magic.
