iRobot goes beyond robot vacuums with new Roomba Electro Plus and smarter Roomba robots

iRobot has launched the Roomba Electro Plus alongside five redesigned Roomba robot vacuums.

The launch follows a turbulent stretch for iRobot, which underwent a failed acquisition attempt by Amazon and a Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring before emerging this year as a privately held company under new owner Shenzhen Picea Robotics.

That corporate reset now coincides with iRobot’s first genuine category expansion in years, as the Roomba Electro Plus is not a robot vacuum at all but a cordless, self-propelled hard-floor cleaner.

The device combines vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, self-cleaning, and self-drying into a single machine, and its electrolysed water technology converts ordinary tap water into a solution that kills 99.99% of household bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

That chemical-free approach to disinfecting places the Electro Plus, priced at $399.99 and available now, within reach of households with children and pets that want sanitised floors without bleach or steam.

Sitting at the top of the redesigned vacuum lineup is the Roomba Max 775 Combo, a $999.99 model available now that pairs 4x power-lifting suction with a heated 167°F mop wash and an AutoWash Dock.

Navigation on the Max 775 relies on ClearView Pro LiDAR mapping and PrecisionVision AI obstacle recognition, which together let the robot identify pet waste and switch to a dedicated carpet protection cover before crossing rugs.

Buyers who prioritise vacuuming over mopping can opt for the Roomba Max 715 Vacuum, a $699.99 model that pairs the same 4x suction and LiDAR navigation with an AutoEmpty Dock instead of a washing dock.

Further down the range, the Roomba Plus 575 Combo costs $799.99 and takes a 46% smaller body that climbs thresholds up to 35mm, pairing 3.5x suction with SmartScrub technology for a deeper scrubbing pass.

The Roomba Plus 515 Combo, priced at $699.99, emphasises runtime over raw power and delivers up to 295 minutes of battery life across as much as 2,000 square feet on a single charge.

At the entry point of the lineup sits the Roomba Plus 415 Combo, which costs $599.99 and still includes a 46% smaller body, 2.8x suction and DualClean spinning mop pads borrowed from pricier models.

Across most of the new models, upgraded AutoWash or AutoEmpty docks wash mop pads, dry them with heated air and empty debris automatically, which extends hands-free maintenance to as long as three months between visits.

Roomba Electro Plus, Max 775 Combo, Plus 515 Combo and Plus 415 Combo are available immediately, while the Max 715 Vacuum and Plus 575 Combo remain open for pre-order ahead of later shipping.
