Dyson has broken from its signature loop design with three new HushJet fan-purifiers that use a star-shaped nozzle for quieter, more powerful airflow.
The star-shaped nozzle marks a sharp departure from the sleek, bladeless loop fans that have defined Dyson’s home appliance lineup for years and given the brand its most recognisable design signature.
Dyson first introduced the star-shaped nozzle on the smaller HushJet Purifier Compact and HushJet Mini Cool personal fan, both released in 2025, before scaling the design up for a full-sized range unveiled at an event in Berlin alongside IFA 2026.
Dyson engineers based the nozzle shape on aviation engineering, a design choice that reduces turbulence in the airflow and produces a jet of air that is both quieter and more powerful than the airflow from the brand’s loop fans.
Despite the dramatic redesign, a Dyson representative signalled that the HushJet range will not replace the loop fans outright, since the loop design remains one of Dyson’s most instantly recognisable signatures.
Double duty as purifiers and heaters
Beyond moving air, most of the new HushJet models double as air purifiers, and one variant also functions as a heater, a combination that continues Dyson’s practice of packing multiple appliance functions into a single unit.
At the top of the range sits the HushJet Big+Quiet Cool Pure+ Formaldehyde, which carries the most advanced purification system in the lineup, captures a wide range of pollutants such as formaldehyde and moves large volumes of air quickly.
That model shares a similar diameter to the existing Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet, a scale that ranks it among the largest fans Dyson sells and suits large spaces such as offices as well as clearing multiple rooms in a home.
Alongside that flagship model, two medium-sized models complete the range for home use, with the HushJet Pure Cool+ Formaldehyde keeping the formaldehyde-capturing filter while the HushJet Hot Cool Pure+ drops that capability in favour of a built-in heater for colder months.
UK pricing places both medium models at £549.99, while the larger HushJet Big+Quiet Cool Pure+ Formaldehyde costs £899.99, with US prices set at $599 and $1,099 respectively.
Availability also varies by region: the UK will get the large and medium Formaldehyde models in October and the heater model in December; the US will see all three arrive in autumn 2026.
