Have this on thick carpet, no cracks yet. You are able to cut these to fit around desks or corners, you will just need some heavy duty industrial grade scissors if you plan on doing so.
I was worried that this would deflect too much on 1/2" pile carpet, but it is more rigid than I thought. I have had it over a year and it shows no sign of wear with pretty regular use of a wheeled office chair over it.
I bought this for my home office located in a bedroom and it's the perfect thickness/firmness to not collapse under the weight of my office chair when placed over carpet. The only warning I'll give is to be careful when taking it out of the box. The edges are sharp and it sliced my thumb like a bad paper cut!
The nubs on the bottom that should secure it into the carpet are cone-shaped, meaning it will still slide ever so slightly every time you put pressure on it. Be sure to double check the measurements because it's a little small.
This did not work for the carpet I have. It rolled as much as the chair. I finally gave up and took it off the carpet and went back to rolling the chair on the carpet. Was very disappointed.
