J.Crew & Eckhaus Latta Shake Up Classic Prep

J.Crew and Eckhaus Latta join forces on a new collaboration that reworks preppy American classics with an off-kilter edge. Designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta take J.Crew’s signature pieces and run them through their own experimental lens.

The starting point was pure nostalgia for the collection. Eckhaus and Latta dug through decades of J.Crew catalogs, zeroing in on the colors and proportions that defined the brand in the 1990s. “That period was our childhood, so our aesthetics and tastes will always be shaped by it,” the designers explain.

That history surfaces in familiar shapes like the Barn Jacket, the Rollneck™, a rugby shirt, chinos, a pleated skirt, a twinset, a duffle coat. But nothing here plays it safe. Cropped knits meet relaxed denim. Sweater vests layer over pale button-downs.

Meanwhile, Olive outerwear flashes purple underneath, and gray twinsets, striped sweaters, knee-length skirts, loafers, and soft green separates nudge classic prep into something quirkier.

Photographer Luna Conte frames the J. Crew collection like one long, stylish house party. Models drift through floral bedrooms and dim sitting rooms, past patterned wallpaper, card games, drinks, and the kind of clutter that only builds up in a home actually lived in.

J.Crew’s prep universe keeps expanding. Check out the label’s Tiny Rollneck campaign next.
